Save the Oaks Fund Donation Request
Dear Members and Supporters of the St. Charles Avenue Association: As St. Charles Avenue Association ("SCAA'') members and supporters, we are proud to be the stewards of the live oaks that line St. Charles Avenue. Taking care of these majestic trees from Carrollton Avenue to Lee Circle is essential to the residential and historic character of the Avenue. Through your generous support of the SCAA's "Save the Oaks" program, over 350 young live oaks were purchased and planted since Hurricane Katrina. SCAA has also maintained the mature trees. Annual fertilization is an important part of the maintenance program in that it ensures the vitality of the oaks. Bayou Tree Service has performed this service at a cost of approximately $13,000 per year. In addition, SCAA has underwritten the spraying of the trees, when necessary, to control buck moth caterpillars. Moreover, damage from the extensive infrastructure work underway on and around the Avenue may cause damage to the trees. Some trees will need to be replaced immediately and others may show effects later. In order for the SCAA to be able to plant and care for the live oaks on the Avenue, I hope that you will consider a gift to add to the Association's capacity to take action as necessary. Your tax deductible contributions to the "Save the Oaks" program may be made payable to Saint Charles Avenue Association with a notation of "Save the Oaks" on the check. SCAA is a 501 (c) (3) organization; its Federal Tax I.D. No. is 58-1902591. You can also make your donations online, and adding to the special instructions, "Save the Oaks." With the SCAA board joining me in thanks for helping "Save the Oaks," I am, with best wishes, Paul J. Masinter President St. Charles Avenue Association Comments are closed.
