.SOS Nola, a coalition of 50 neighborhood and community associations founded by SCAA and St. Claude Main Street, has released its Tool Kit for
crime prevention. The Tool Kit gives an array of tactics individuals and neighborhoods can adopt to help reduce crime. “The 36 page booklet covers a broad range of topics including: adding streetlights, graffiti and litter abatement, abandoned building, creating security districts and more. The booklet is posted on www.sosnola.com and can be downloaded by anyone for free,” says Jonathan Rhodes, SOS president. Printed copies of the booklet will be distributed for those who do not have computer access. Printing costs were provided with funding from the Garden District Association; Mid City Neighborhood Organization; Pel Hughes Printing; Nigel Rafferty Graphics and Laura and Philip Claverie. Each chapter of the booklet was written by a neighborhood association that successfully implemented the strategy. Ten different organizations participated, representing a broad range of neighborhoods. “Many cities have published similar booklets, but we think our Tool Kit is the most complete, and addresses solutions that are specific to New Orleans,” says Rhodes. “The Tool Kit helps locals participate in the process of reducing crime. We hope every citizen and organization downloads it.” For more information or to download the tool kit visit: www.sosnola.com. You can also download the kit here. |
